PR Grant Awards 2019-R1
1st Thurso Scout Group was awarded £6,500 towards refurbishing the rear hall interior floor structure of the 1st Thurso Scout Group hall situated at Thurso Riverside. The old hall floor will be replaced with a new concrete floor to eliminate potential damp ingress and reduce ongoing maintenance. The works will also include a waterproof membrane and insulation layer and will be finished with new vinyl flooring and skirtings to provide a welcoming and practical space. The refurbishment will maximise the hall’s potential for use and provide a long-term infrastructure improvement to the valued youth facility that will help to ensure the hall remains a sustainable option for the future.
Armadale Village Hall Committee was awarded £30,000 towards the construction of a new village hall at Armadale to create a new energy efficient community building with improved car park access and facilities. The new community building will serve as a hub for the community and will include new facilities to also encourage passing tourists and motorhomes to stop and visit. The car park facilities will be equipped with a new drainage system and chemical toilet dispersal for tourists as well as information boards with local points of interest and a historic overview of the crofting community.
